The Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan™ engine program has reached yet another exciting milestone, celebrating 500,000 engine flight hours on a fleet of 135 aircraft currently in service across two aircraft platforms and 21 operators.
The GTF engine continues to define commercial aviation standards, saving customers a staggering 25 million gallons of fuel, totaling $45 million in savings to date. Not only financially advantageous, the environmentally friendly engine has saved 264,000 tons of carbon emissions and reduced the noise footprint by 75 percent.
“The positive impact the GTF engine is having from an economic, environmental, and overall passenger experience is unlike anything the industry has seen to date,” said Tom Pelland, senior vice president, Commercial Engine Programs. “None of this would be possible without the trust placed in us by our customers, and the dedicated Pratt & Whitney team members who deliver on our commitments every day. Thank you, and congratulations on 500K!”
As we approach the two-year anniversary of revenue service later this month, the outlook for 2018 is bright. The GTF program is continuing to attract new orders and is ramping up production deliveries, all while supporting a growing in-service fleet.
